The overall objective of SEO is to optimise a website for search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo. It does not matter if you are running an e-commerce store or a business blog, content marketing remains an important part of modern-day SEO processes. Google normally takes into account bounce rate and the time spent on a site as ranking factors. If visitors are bouncing away due to navigation confusion and poor content structure, you can be sure that the search bots are too. Content curation is a common way to collect, restructure, and republish existing content. The collection of material often provides new perspectives for users on content ideas you’ve already covered. For content curation to be successful, you first look for appropriate sources and then use your own blog to purposefully publish the content. Personal social media channels also help spread content easily. Popular topics often provide a lot of traffic.

Try to Go for Longer, Scannable Posts

Don’t be scared by the acronym SEO, it just allows sites like Google to read your website and rate you in terms of how relevant you are to the users search terms. Content syndication is the term used for the tactical republishing of your original article on another third-party website. It’s particularly useful if you’re a smaller publisher or an up-and-coming writer who wants a larger audience. A site that hasn’t done its keyword research is like a car driving in the dark down between two points. Keyword research is a constant and has been and still is a cornerstone of SEO. Do it before you do anything else! Blog comments are a great way to promote content, diversify anchor text and build out a natural link profile.

Create Silos For Your Website

RankBrain is Google's machine learning artificial intelligence system that's used to help provide the best search results for users. It auto updates itself and "learn's" from people's searches. Linking out is huge. Don't be a link hoard; you're going to create content, so use it to gain favor with other people. I'll go more into depth below with specific tactics on linking out, but in general, you only have something to gain when you’re linking out. Dig through your customer communications to find additional, actively used keywords. Talk to your customer service people to find out what customers are asking about (in their words). You should aim to have the target search keyword within one of the HTML headers in your content (e.g. H2, H3, etc.).

Good content + bad design = failure

Fundamental search engine optimization never changes. You only have three things to work with: content, links, and measurement. A comprehensive keyword research enables you to discover which words work in your line of field and attract the most attention. It also provides you with opportunities to create new content or improvise your previous posts by including relevant keywords. I think one of the great SEO myths is every site should have a blog. I have seen sites invest in filling passionless blogs with content to feed the SEO machine. We asked an SEO Specialist, Gaz Hall, for his thoughts on the matter: "You might get caught up in creating different versions of content for your locale sites. But remember, creating remarkable and unique content should be your highest priority, above any other off-page seo tips. Create interesting and valuable content that other people will want to link to, no matter where they live."

Update and Republish Old Content

Most SEOs would agree that Google’s SERP features can be a double-edged sword. They can significantly cut into your site traffic if you aren’t featured in one, or they can result in a welcome boost if you are. Looking at a website’s backlink profile can tell you a lot about their marketing activities and help you to understand why, where, and how they rank. The true goal of SEO should be to engage customers and deliver conversions, and that cannot be accomplished with the artificial tactics used in traditional SEO campaigns. Digital marketing professionals understand the importance of SEO and the need to implement a proper strategy. However, only defining what those keywords are isn’t enough to improve your website’s search engine ranking.
