If you purport to be an expert site, then you’d better make sure you have experts writing for you. Even if you’re site is an entertainment site or fashion blog. Every business needs a marketing strategy and so does a website. The best strategy to market any website is through SEO management. It has long been understood that Google’s ranking algorithm is complex (by design). For many businesses the goal is to get their business to position number 1 on Google, but did you know that there’s a new top spot on Google called position zero. You’ve probably noticed these results but maybe not understood them properly. Position zero is all about using featured snippets to give an informative answer to a user’s query. It’s not uncommon for the results that are further down the first page listings to be featured in position zero.
How do you make a Google friendly site?
If you want to score the No. 1 position on Google, sit down with your teammates and brainstorm questions relevant to your brand, services or products. Keyword selection requires
its due consideration. You do not want to select a common, albeit popular, keyword featured in various other contents as it dilutes your visibility. Conversely, you do not want to choose a keyword that is so vague that your content becomes almost non-existent for the users. The images that you upload to a webpage also have an impact on SEO. It’s important that your files have relevant titles, relevant Alternative Text and aren’t so big that they slow down the site. You hear a lot of hot air about content, why it’s important, why brands need to be producing it etc, but not a lot of context about measuring impact.
Identify and remove duplicate content
Optimizing page titles for search is best done finding a balance between volume and intent. I’d rather have
a more relevant link with low authority. I’d hope that was better for traffic, but I’d not really expect it to have the same effect on rankings as a higher authority link with lower relevance. Google tends to prefer Featured Snippet content that begin logically as an answer would. Instead of creating content, a lot of websites should be focused on cleaning content.
Auditing Existing Content
Technical SEO can seem daunting. However, understanding the principles is important. There may be parts you can try, or work on with your developer. We know that we need links because the value is there – direct and indirect – and every study or research piece published about SEO says that links are still important. When consumers search vocally, their queries are hugely different from how they write them out. The most noticeable aspect of this is that voice search produces many long-tail keyword queries.
Gaz Hall, an SEO Expert from the UK, said: "Content marketing is about creating content that will help Google to find your site and posts and to ensure you rank highly in the search engine results pages. While this is a powerful and useful effect though, it's actually only one part of what content marketing is about."
Removing the guesswork from SEO
Good ways to boost readability include breaking up sub-topics within your content, using images and videos to help explain difficult concepts, and visually highlighting one or two quotable sound bites that illustrate key points. Did you migrate
from HTTP to HTTPS or are planning to do so? If so, it’s best to monitor after so you can gauge the impact on rankings and traffic. Over the past few years the way we use search engines have changed. We no longer just type words into search engines, we can speak to our phones and search by asking questions, or we can use smart assistants on devices such as Google Home to answer queries for us. Stop marketing to audiences and instead market to customers at scale.
